Coaching Candidate

To become a coach at PRC requires an interview with the head coach, joining USRowing as a championship level member, completion of USRowing SafeSport training, completion of background check via USRowing, and start of USRowing Level 1 or Level 2 certification.

Commitment

Candidates, even those with USRowing coaching certification, are required to spend 10 hours as a mentee with the PRC Head Coach as mentor. This involves observing and leading practices.


Once fully on board PRC expects coaches to participate or lead a minimum of three practices or open row session per quarter. The ideal participation is 2-3 practices or sessions per week.

Practice and Session Times

PRC has masters practices and session 3-5 mornings (5:00-7:00 am) per week, and 2-3 afternoons (6:00-8:00 pm). Open Row session are 2-3 mornings (7:30-9:00 am) and some evenings (6:00-8:00pm). Juniors practice 4-5 weekdays 4:30 to 6:30 pm and some weekends 9:00-11:00 am or 3:30-5:30 pm.

Coaching Qualification

Program is to complete all requirements for becoming a PRC Coach. This includes interviews with Head Coach and Director, obtaining USRowing Level 1 certification, and certification as a level 4 PRC member.
